Going Cross Country for two days with "The Block"

Yep, that’s what this 33 year old, single mother of 1 did for two days straight. I hopped into a car (The Yummy Mummy Bus) with a couple of girlfriends and we hit the road.

To where you may be asking? Missouri, that’s where.

Why? To see New Kids on the Block in concert, 2 nights straight.

Why? Well, if you knew me at all you would know that my affinity for New Kids goes WAY BACK, to 1988 to be exact. I have been enthralled by these 5 guys from Boston for YEARS. Just ask Joe (Boxer that is - a local DJ and legend in his own right), I would call and request them every week for the “What You Say Buffet"…didn’t matter which song he played, I just wanted to hear them.

So, as I said, some girlfriends and I headed to St. Louis on Monday 11/10/08 to see NKOTB in concert…we painted our van, we wore our t-shirts and we blasted the music. This trip was going to be amazing…and it was.

<------------- That’s me, kissing my side of the van…

We got to St. Louis at around 6:00 PM, picked up our tickets and waited for them to open the doors. Once the doors opened we headed for our seats…GREAT SEATS. Fourteenth row, center stage…heck yes…we were loving it. The opening acts performed…yay! Bring on the boys….man oh man, I thought the show in Cleveland was good…this time around they really ROCKED it and I loved every minute of it. We even made it back to the B-Stage (real fans know about the B-Stage and when and how to get there)…got some great pics. Finally the show was over. We headed back to the van, chilled for a bit and decided to stake out the buses. Yes I said “stake out” the buses. As we are waiting Kim says she has to pee, so we leave, find a potty AND make it back before the buses pull out. The first bus we saw was the “DARK KNIGHT” bus, caring the brother’s “Knight”. Jon, pointed, waved a laughed at our van all decorated up…we thought we were the bombdiggity. About 10 minutes later the Baby Daddy Bus pulls out (that’s Donnie and Danny’s bus)…so, along with about 6 other cars, we pull out and RESPECTFULLY follow them…to THE WAFFLE HOUSE! We actually ate at the Waffle House with two of the New Kids…how stinkin cool was that? Donnie even signed autographs for us…he was Super cool and I can’t thank him enough. That's Him ---->

We finally made it to Kansas City by 6 o’clock the following morning…fell into bed and got some much needed sleep. I woke up much before our alarm went off because I was starving, see, our waitress wouldn’t wait on me at the Waffle House so I was REALLY HUNGRY. I hadn’t eaten anything since the afternoon before in Indiana. So, we shower and head to Denny’s for some grub. Get back to the hotel and get beautified for the Meet & Greet and concert.

We got to the arena with a half hour to spare, stood in line in the cold and rain. Finally got in, checked our cameras, cell phones and first born children at security. We received our VIP package and headed upstairs. Once there we were served complementary food and drink while we waited our turn to meet the boys. It was finally OUR TURN. We head in, I’m a ball of nerves…see I have loved them for so long…I just didn’t know what to do with myself. I see Jordan, my heart (laugh if you must), and freeze…he looks back and I freak out and decide to head to Danny instead. Danny and I share a great conversation and he gives me an amazing hug. I turn and there is Jordan again…still can’t get myself to head that way, so I go to Jon. Jon and I chat about the night before and him seeing our van. He giggles and gives me a great hug. Then, this is where the slow motion begins, I turn and there is Jordan and he’s looking right at me. He opens his arms wide and I walk right in. As soon as I touch him I begin to cry. I’m not talking a few tears here, I’m talking a full on hysterical cry. I tell him a very personal story and he looks at me the whole time, then holds me in his arms and tells me it will be ok. Then, time stopped, he walked me away from the crowd, pushes me at arms length and says to me, while looking in my eyes “I am so happy you are here tonight. WE are so happy you are here.” OMFG!!! I died right then and there…then it was picture time. Jordan walks me back to the group, because I couldn’t function at this point…and I get him all to myself for the picture, well my friend Heather did get to hold his leg. But me, I to got wrap both arms around him and lay my head on his chest (at least that's what I thought I did...contrary to my belief the pictures show a different story). I WAS IN HEAVEN. They took two pics and then they started ushering us out. Their big bodyguard, Robo, walks over to me, puts his arm around me and begins to walk me out. I’m still crying, Jordan is
walking next to us and I say “I didn’t get my Donnie time.” To which Robo says “What honey?” and I say again, “I didn’t get my Donnie time.” And he says “Well let’s go get it baby.” So, he walks me over to Donnie, I look at him and he looks back. I say, while pointing to my lips, “Donnie, this mommies lips haven’t been kissed in well over 7 years.” He looks at me, takes two steps forward, leans in and those warm, soft lips touched mine…PURE BLISS. He then says to me “Baby, next time I see you I don’t want to hear those words come out of your mouth. Now, go find yourself a man.” HOLY CRAP BATMAN…Donnie Wahlberg just kissed me. As I float out on a cloud, I see Joe and say, while leaning in for a hug, “Thanks Joe.” And then it was over…

We head out to our seats, which were awesome, 5th row…ROCK ON!
Got back to the B-Stage again and got some great pics…one of which is of Jordan posing just for me. He saw me, pointed, waved and smiled…then he POSED for me.

And THAT is Jordan posing for me…sigh!
The concert is over...we head outside...grab some water from the van and stake out our spot to watch the buses roll out...we saw Donnie on the Baby Daddy Bus...he saw Kim's sign, and pointed at it. Then the Dark Knight bus came rolling out and there for all to see was Jon and Jordan. Jon saw MY sign and laughed, then got Jordan's attention and they were BOTH laughing and smiling at MY SIGN. OMFG. I was dying!

Now, my day to day life is pretty ordinary, but for 3 days I was a teenager again and I loved it. That trip is something I will never forget…never.
